About Moot Court
A Moot Court is a simulated courtroom where law students participate in mock trials based on hypothetical legal cases. Students take the roles of advocates, presenting arguments before a panel of judges while applying legal principles, statutes, and case laws.
Through regular moot court activities, students develop confidence, logical reasoning, legal interpretation abilities, and professional communication skills.
1st Kannada state level Moot Court Competition 2026
Devanga Sangha College of Law, Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Young Lawyers Forum, successfully hosted the Sri Pathiyappa Memorial All Karnataka First Kannada Moot Court Competition from May 29 to 31, 2026. The landmark event aimed to promote the use of the Kannada language in legal education and courtroom proceedings while enhancing students’ practical advocacy and legal research skills. Centered on a moot proposition tackling contemporary constitutional and criminal law issues—specifically child protection under the POCSO Act and the “Romeo and Juliet Clause”—the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 30 law college teams across the state. Following rigorous preliminary, quarter-final, and semi-final rounds, Vaikunta Baliga College of Law, Udupi, emerged as the winner, with BLDEA’S Law College, Jamkhandi, securing the runner-up position. The event concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony attended by esteemed judicial dignitaries, successfully bridging the gap between theoretical legal education and practical application.
